Welcome to my fitness blog where I am documenting my ongoing aim to maintain a good level of fitness and my journey into the world of Muay Thai.
I am a beginner ‘Nak Muay’, and have never participated in a martial art before. As of right now I am 30 years of age and I am looking towards Muay Thai to help me keep in shape.
Fortunately, I’m not exactly unfit, however I’m not exactly in peak physical form either! As it stands I’m pretty much your average joe, except thus far I’ve been lucky enough to keep the beer belly at bay – although things might be different had I not started commuting to work by bike two years ago.
But, now I want more, I’m after solid all round level of fitness, now and forever. An increase of activity, improvements in my diet. Better cardiac health, muscular strength/endurance, good bone health, psychological health, so on and so forth – and I want my workout to have purpose.
Can any one sport provide all that?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to participate in quite a few sports throughout my life, but never a martial art. I’ve been a swimmer, a gymnast, a skater, a runner, a climber, but never a fighter* despite having looked into it on numerous occasions.
Eventually I settled on Muay Thai, and found out that it just so happens that there was a gym a stones throw away from my office!
Perfect!
